"Rockin' Horse" certainly is a driven track! You show your influences well, but do them justice - you've got a fantastic grasp of the old school of rock. The vocals are strong without losing emotional input, the guitar work is excellent, and the solid bass and drums hold the track perfectly together. It's well structured, and the backing vocals and harmonies in the chorus are very well arranged. Great stuff!
HOLLYWOOD..... This band was extremely tight and played radio-friendly tunes that left everyone wanting more. They were one of the most professional and efficient bands of the evening. Aubrey, their drummer, went home with some Sabien cymbals and was titled the best drummer of the evening by the judges. Stay tuned to their website…I foresee great things coming your way from HOLLYWOOD!

I guess you really can't judge a book by it's cover…or even a CD. When I got the "press kit" and CD for Hollywood, I rolled my eyes. They look like your typical cover band playing a local bar and reading the press kit proved that is exactly what they are, a cover band that decided to do their own thing.

As it turns out choosing their own thing is a good idea. The CD kicks off with "Too Late Train", which is a great piece with a cool groove and drive behind it. If you remember the band Rattlebone at all, this reminds me of them. They basically took a Deep Purple idea and groove and updated it brilliantly, and this "Too Late" is not far from that.

"All Night" sounds a bit typical 80's hairband, but with a nice chorus. "Blvd. Of Dreams" has been driving me crazy as to who it reminds me of. Well, it just hit me. This could have been a Foxy Roxx tune. Dead on Foxy, and that is a compliment my friends! "Every Word I Never Said" I really can't comment on. I hate ballads of this sort. This one you'll have to judge for yourself…sorry. If you love ballads though, you might want to play this one at your high school prom. Think Poison style ballad though. I have to skip this one now. Ick. "Shot Down In Love" is pure sleaze with a guitar tone and vocal style that makes me think of Ratt off the first EP, with some of Out Of The Cellar. "Get Off", "King Of The Mountain", "Fools Paradise" (very Foxy again) and "I Got The Girl" all range from strong to very strong rock numbers of Sleaze with some of that 80's LA style. If that's the stuff you enjoy, you really should be ordering this CD. I had to skip "Each Others Eyes" though on repeat listening. It's a ballad…yuck. Musicianship is high caliber, and the vocals are damn strong!!! Think a mix of Vince Neil, Brett Michaels and some Sebastian Bach.

This will be landing in my rotation and will be getting played often, and I normally can't stand this style! So again, I stress, do yourself a favor and check them out!!!

"The 1980s Hollywood scene was enormous, with bands playing night after night on every boulevard or street in this part of Los Angeles, which was known as ‘Hair Metal’ mekka of the 1980s. In the early 90s the music climate changed and all the thousands of bands that played the typical American Dream Rock and Roll a la SLAUGHTER, WARRANT, WINGER, FIREHOUSE, KISS, AEROSMITH, GUNS’N’ROSES, MOTLEY CRUE went down like a rocket and had to survive in a new world which only accepted bands that played a la NIRVANA or PEARL JAM. Happily, we are now in the year 2006 and although Glam/Hair Metal is still out of date, all over the USA new bands pop up that play this classic American Hard Rock style. One of these bands is the South Carolina based band HOLLYWOOD. Their CD is filled with typical late 80s American Hair Metal in the style of WILD BOYZ, WARRANT, POISON, SLAUGHTER, EVERY MOTHER’S NIGHTMARE… It does sound quite good, especially when the singer starts sounding like a typical LA band from the 1980s (almost in a PRETTY BOY FLOYD/MOTLEY CRUE style). Songs like “Boulevard of dreams” (strong semi melodic rocker), “Every word I never said” (80s Power Ballad a la WARRANT) and “King of the mountain” (heaviest song, with even some prog metal influences!) are a must to hear if you’re into this kind of rock and especially if PERRIS RECORDS or METAL MAYHEM RECORDS are your favourite labels. Better check out this HOLLYWOOD.

"As you can probably tell I'm somewhat a rock fan, so hearing your awesome riffs pound from the speakers I felt that same surge of energy that somehow doesn't appear when being forced to listen to Atomic Kitten or whoever else is destroying a Diana Ross cover. The powerful percussion and tight, forceful rhythm complements the destructive Bon Jovi-esq vocals that shake the "I Love Ozzy" mug off my desk. Very Aerosmith meets Whitesnake, with some slithering Sambora licks in the solo. It also reminds me somewhat of the superhuman Guns N' Roses Illusion II era. Very very good!
"I really think you have the potential to get a good response from our A&R Agency contacts in the music industry. I also think the listeners on our Radio station would really like your tracks, as they do have a Radio-friendly appeal.
